Olive trees have long been recognised for their health benefits. The Olive tree traditionally represents peace, happiness and success. There are over 200 Biblical references to the olive, indicating that its use dates back to ancient times.

Olive oil has been shown to contain active compounds called polyphenolics. These polyphenolics have also been identified in olive leaves, but at a level 30 times higher than in extra virgin olive oil. The three most widely researched olive polyphenolics are hydroxytyrosol, caffeic acid and oleuropein. These compounds are partly responsible for the exceptional antioxidant activity of olive products.

The antioxidant potential of the olive leaf polyphenolics has been identified to be exceptional. When a range of superior natural antioxidant products were measured for their oxygen radical absorbance capacity or ORAC (an internationally recognised laboratory technique that measures total antioxidant effect), Comvita Olive Leaf Complex was shown to have a value 400% that of Vitamin C, also being significantly better than both grape seed extract and green tea extract.

Ingredients:

Comvita Olive Leaf Extract (equivalent of approximately 5g or 5000mg of fresh leaf per 5ml, standardised to contain 22.0mg [10-11%] of oleuropein), vegetable glycerine.

Comvita Olive Leaf Complex is free from alcohol, yeast, sugar, lactose, starch, gluten, artificial flavours, colours, preservatives or animal products.

Dosage Guide:

Adults: Take 5ml (1 teaspoonful) 2 - 3 times a day with food.

Children 2 years and above: Take 2.5ml (1/2 teaspoonful) 2 - 3 times a day with food.

Can be taken straight or diluted with juice.

Contraindications:

Pregnant or lactating women should consult a healthcare professional before taking this product.

Note that due to its potential blood pressure lowering effects, those taking anti-hypertensive medications may need to have these reduced after taking Comvita Olive Leaf Complex.

Symptoms such as mild headaches, rashes, fatigue, diarrhoea, muscle or joint pain may be experienced when starting to take Comvita Olive Leaf Complex. This is known as the ‘Herxheimer effect’ or healing effect. It is an indication that the body is effectively dealing with toxins and eliminating them from the body (detoxifying). It is important to drink plenty of water whilst experiencing these symptoms to assist the elimination of toxins through the lymphatic system and the kidneys. Symptoms will subside within 4-7 days once toxins are eliminated. While these reactions may be mildly unpleasant initially, they are a sign that the complex is doing its work.
