This is the second unit I have bought and I love it. My first lasted about 8 years and I wouldn't be without it. I find it much easier to wake up on winter mornings and the sunset function helps if I'm having difficulty dropping off. I've never found the controls to be too complicated and like the fact that I can set different times for the weekends. I think they have actually improved this model by having the fade up and down on the main button so it's not so much of a shock if you do have to put your light on and you don''t need to use the little buttons. Whilst connecting this to a normal lamp may mean it's not as bright as other dawn simulators I find it more convenient and more aesthetically pleasing.

This is a great alarm clock, a much more natural way to wake up, and I feel so much more refreshed when I wake. The sunset option really works, and I get to sleep much faster than I used to, and haven't had to take sleeping tablets since I bought it! At first look, it does seem a bit complicated to use, but after a few days, you will easily get the hang of it. My only (minor) complaint is that I feel the base should be slightly angled, and to reset the alarm times, you have to go all the way through the menu. Other than that, it is great!

The Sunrise System does seem complicated when you're first looking at the instruction book but it just takes a bit of practice. It's great not having the sudden wake up that a normal alarm gives you. Sometimes the sunrise doesn't wake me up but even the audible alarm has a gentle sound. My husband has been impressed on the couple of occasions he has used it so I'm off to buy him one now!

It works as advertised but it's complicated - all its multiple functions, many of which are unlikely to be used, are accessed from just five buttons - and difficult to understand and set up. I have a computer science PhD and I'm still puzzled by it - though I have managed to get it to come on in the morning and wake me up. It's certainly more pleasant than being rudely wakened in a dark room at this time of year. Recommended, but takes some setting up and learning to operate. If you want one with a built in light, maybe the Lumie ones are easier to use, I don't know, I haven't got one. One last thing - it is silent in operation, which is great - no hums, ticks or buzzes, unlike a lot of alarm clocks.

Questions & Answers

Below are questions that bodykind customers have asked us about this product. If you want to know more about this product please don't hesitate to ask us a question.

Ask us a question

Question about Sunrise System SRS 100 - Dawn Simulator how big is the Sunrise System Dawn Simulator?
The dimensions are as follows: 130mm (width) x 110mm (height) x 70mm (depth)
Question about Sunrise System SRS 100 - Dawn Simulator If I select the light ONLY to wake me, how can I be sure to wake at the desired time without using the back up beeper?
The beeper can be used as a back up until your body gets used to waking up to the natural light. This only usually takes a few days. However, if you are afraid of not waking up it may be a good idea to keep the back up beeper active just in case. Please note the back up beeper will not sound until the end of the sunrise, normally you would be awake by this time and able to disable the beeper before it sounds.
Question about Sunrise System SRS 100 - Dawn Simulator Does this product run on batteries?
No, all of our sunrise alarm clocks are mains operated, including this model.
Question about Sunrise System SRS 100 - Dawn Simulator Can this clock be battery operated? How does my bedside light plug in? I want to use it say in hotel rooms so is it pretty portable?
This clock is mains operated and unfortunately cannot be battery operated. Your bedside lamp plugs into a 3 pin adapter which is connected to the clock. It is portable, however, it would only be available for use within the UK, outside the UK you would need the necessary converters.
Question about Sunrise System SRS 100 - Dawn Simulator What does the alarm sound like? Is it possible to have a dawn chorus?
The alarm is a buzzer, or a beeping sound. Unfortunately it is not a dawn chorus as such.
Question about Sunrise System SRS 100 - Dawn Simulator How does this product help in the treatment of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) ?
Sunrise alarm clocks such as the Sunrise System employ light therapy in the form of a simulated sunrise to engage your natural circadian rhythms (your bodyclock), by synchronising these they help to alleviate the symptoms of SAD.
Question about Sunrise System SRS 100 - Dawn Simulator Does this clock come with a warranty?
Yes. All of our sunrise alarm clocks come with a 12 month warranty as standard.
Question about Sunrise System SRS 100 - Dawn Simulator Does the dawn simulator work with ANY lamp - even lamps that don't normally fade? Also, how do you connect the lamp to the dawn simulator? Do you plug the lamp in to the simulator and the simulator into the wall?
The Sunrise System is compatible with lamps that have tungsten bulbs up to 100w. Both the candle type (E14) and the larger round standard type (GLS) bulbs are available as an energy saving halogen bulb. They last twice as long as the traditional 100W bulb and use less energy. As a guide 240V halogen 42W = 60W tungsten, and halogen 70W = 100W tungsten. The SRS 100 is not compatible with low power bulbs or any other special bulbs. The lamp connects to a 3 pin input on the Sunrise System and then this connects to the mains.
Question about Sunrise System SRS 100 - Dawn Simulator Please tell me, is the light from these units the full spectrum, as in SAD lamps, or just an ordinary lamp?
Sunrise alarm clocks such as the Sunrise System do not employ bright light therapy similar to SAD Lamps and are not measured in Lux. They instead employ light therapy in the form of a simulated sunrise to engage your natural circadian rhythms (your bodyclock), by synchronising these they help to alleviate the symptoms of SAD.
