Propolis has very high BIOflavonoid levels that have been independently certified to be at least 30mg/g (BIO30), BIOflavonoids may be helpful in maintaining a healthy immune system.

Manuka honey is the only 100% natural food in the world shown to have EFFECTIVE and RELIABLE anti-bacterial activity due to the active compound – Dietary Methylglyoxal which forms naturally in the manuka plant. Manuka Health measures methylglyoxal content based on standards developed by University of Dresden. The higher the MGO™ Manuka honey rating the higher the level of anti-bacterial activity in the honey.

UMF Rating® and MGO™

Manuka Health have decided to market their products based on the methylglyoxal content in the honey. Until recently, it was not known what compound or compounds in the honey where responsibly for it`s remarkable properties. Professor Thomas Henle of the University of Dresden in Germany has discovered it is Manuka honey`s unique concentration of Dietary Methylglyoxal that is responsible for it`s beneficial characteristics.

For years Manuka health used Non-Peroxide Activity rating (NPA) or UMF® rating, however in light of the new evidence regarding Methylglyoxal they have decided to trademark MGO™ to make it clear to consumers how much Methylglyoxal is in their honey.

The MGO™ number represents how many milligrams of Methylglyoxal there are in 1kg of honey. So for example, MGO™100 is guaranteed to contain 100mg of Methylglyoxal per kilogram.
