UMF 12+ Active Manuka Honey`s antibacterial properties are known to assist the natural immune defences of the skin. Containing UMF 12+ Active Manuka Honey, Comvita Manukacare can be used to help support and maintain healthy skin.

Comvita Manukacare has achieved a CE 0805 mark (medical devices licence) which is a technical agreement necessary to manufacture the product to the required standard. As part of the agreement the medical grade Manuka Honey must have at least UMF rating of 12+.

Manuka Honey:

Comvita Manuka Honey is sourced from New Zealand`s remote, pollution free native forests and is world renowned for its unique flavour. Comvita Manuka Honeys are tested for the unique antibacterial properties which make New Zealand Manuka honey famous.

The Active Manuka Honey Association (or AMHA), has registered UMF as a trademark so that the antibacterial activity of Manuka honey cannot be misrepresented. The UMF number comes from a laboratory test for antibacterial activity, with the honey being compared with a standard reference antiseptic (phenol) for potency. UMF 20+ would be equivalent in antiseptic potency to a 20% solution of phenol.

50g Cream

Ingredients:

New Zealand Manuka Honey (Mel) 100%.

Application:

• Apply Manukacare™ directly onto the wound ensuing it reaches a thickness of at least 3mm over the whole wound. Apply more if wound fluid is present.
• Avoid direct contact between the wound and the tube nozzle.
• A non-adherent sterile pad or dressing should be applied over the Manukacare™. Specific choice is dependent on amount of wound fluid (exudates) present.
• Manukacare™ can be left on the wound for up to 7 days. A leaking or saturated dressing indicates a dressing chance is necessary.
• Serious wounds and wounds with signs of infection should be managed under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

Contraindication:

Caution: Do not use where there is a known allergy to honey. Allergy to bee stings does not prevent the use of this product.
