Bio Health Natural Herb Laxative - 100 tablets
A herbal remedy for the relief of occasional or non-persistent constipation. Senna is not doubted when accompanied by mild Cape Aloes which help to soften stools, Cascara, another classic laxative, and other herbs selected for their particular benefits to Natural Herb Laxative.
Valerian is included to calm the intestinal tract and to reduce the griping that can occur when using laxatives. Holy Thistle has bitter qualities to promote better digestion, and Dandelion Root contains bitter substances which are beneficial to the digestive process.
The formulation offers six effective herbs to ensure softer stools, reduce griping and cause bowel movement. It should not be taken with other laxatives.
Senna Leaf:
People in northern Africa and southwestern Asia have used Senna Leaf as a laxative to ease constipation for centuries. It is considered a “cleansing” herb because of its cathartic effect.
Senna contains hydroxyanthracene glycosides known as sennosides. These glycosides stimulate colon activity and thus have a laxative effect. Also, these glycosides increase fluid secretion by the colon, with the effect of softening the stool and increasing its bulk. Double-blind trials have confirmed the benefit of senna in treating constipation.
Aloes:
Aloe has been historically used for many of the same conditions for which it is used today - particularly constipation. The constituents of aloe latex responsible for its laxative effects are known as anthraquinone glycosides. These molecules are split by the normal bacteria in the large intestines to form other molecules (aglycones), which exert the laxative action.
Cascara:
Northern California Indians introduced this herb, which they called sacred bark, to 16th century Spanish explorers. As it is much milder in its laxative action than the herb buckthorn, cascara became popular in Europe as a treatment for constipation. Cascara has been an approved treatment for constipation in the U.S. Pharmacopoeia since 1890.
Cascara bark is high in hydroxyanthraquinone glycosides called cascarosides. Resins, tannins, and lipids make up the bulk of the other bark ingredients. Cascarosides have a cathartic action that induces the large intestine to increase its muscular contraction (peristalsis), resulting in bowel movement.
Dandelion Root:
The primary constituents responsible for dandelion’s action on the digestive system and liver are the bitter principles. Previously referred to as taraxacin, these constituents are sesquiterpene lactones of the eudesmanolide and germacranolide type, and are unique to dandelion.
