BioCare Evening Primrose Oil - Omega 6 - 30 x 500mg Vegicaps
Evening Primrose Oil is rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, including Linoleic Acid and Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA), and is low in saturated fatty acids. Linoleic Acid is abundant in many vegetable oils but Evening Primrose oil is one of the few rich sources of GLA.
The body not only uses polyunsaturates for the growth of cell membranes but it also converts them into Prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are physiologically-active hormone-like substances which control and regulate many body processes.
Before the body can make use of Linoleic Acid for Prostaglandin formation, it has to convert it to GLA, and sometimes this conversion is slow or partially blocked. Hence a dietary source of GLA can be very useful to the body in by-passing the conversion process.
GLA is the precursor of a particularly important prostaglandin called PGE, which takes part in regulating the nervous, cardiovascular and reproductive systems, skin condition and other biological functions.
What is it?
Evening primrose oil (EPO), comes from the seeds of the evening primrose plant. Like black currant seed oil and borage oil, EPO contains gamma linolenic acid (GLA), a fatty acid that the body converts to a hormone-like substance called prostaglandin E1 (PGE1).

Dosage Guide:
Take 1 vegicap daily with food or as professionally directed.
Contraindication:
Not suitable for individuals taking anti-blood clotting drugs such as Warfarin, Coumarin and Heparin.
Not suitable for individuals suffering from epilepsy.
