Magnesium Deficiency on the Rise:
In 1997 over 70% of Americans were thought to be deficient in magnesium and in 2003 the average UK diet contained only 60% of the RDA of magnesium.

Food processing depletes magnesium, and the vast majority of us eat mostly processed foods.
