Comvita Manuka Honey has unique antibacterial properties
Comvita Manuka Honey is sourced from New Zealand`s remote, pollution free native forests and is world renowned for its unique flavour. Comvita Manuka Honeys are tested for the unique antibacterial properties which make New Zealand Manuka honey famous.
The Manuka Honey Association (or AMHA), has registered UMF as a trademark so that the antibacterial activity of Manuka honey cannot be misrepresented. The UMF number comes from a laboratory test for antibacterial activity, with the honey being compared with a standard reference antiseptic (phenol) for potency. UMF 5+ would be equivalent in antiseptic potency to a 15% solution of phenol.
Manuka Honey, which is tested and proven to have the UMF (Unique Manuka Factor), is labelled accordingly. Only honeys with a UMF rating higher than 10 can use the UMF trademark.
Comvita Manuka Honey may help support healthy digestion
Comvita UMF 5+ Manuka Honey contains UMF antibacterial activity in addition to the hydrogen peroxide found in other honeys. UMF indicates the naturally occurring antibacterial property of UMF Manuka Honey, which helps to maintain healthy digestive function.
UMF Manuka Honey has been found to be effective in enhancing the growth of the probiotic bacterial species Bifidobacterium which aid in digestion.
UMF Manuka honey contains a special non-peroxide antibacterial element (called UMF) at a level found only in some batches of Manuka honey, and found only in honey from the Leptospermum species. Comvita produce six products with varying levels of activity;
About Comvita Manuka Honey
Comvita Manuka Honey is sourced from Leptospermum scoparium, a small tree that is native to New Zealand. This small shrub-like tree grows in clusters on hillsides, in coastal areas and at the edges of the New Zealand bush.
During the heat of the early summer it produces a profusion of flowers a-buzz with bees busily collecting nectar to make our unique Manuka Honey - the flavour of New Zealand. Special techniques have been used to ensure that Comvita Manuka Honey reaches you in optimum condition, just as nature intended.
Comvita Manuka Honey, with its distinctively rich flavour and aroma, can be eaten by the spoonful, used as a spread or added to hot beverages.
Manuka Honey is collected by the honey bee from native Manuka, a unique plant source recognised worldwide for its health supporting properties.
These honeys are packed in Comvita`s state-of-the-art GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) factory, into brown-tinted, unbreakable containers designed to protect the honey`s natural components.
