Excellent product as always from Solgar.
I have to comment about the description from the 1 star reviewer. What they experienced was a `flush` which is normal and expected for Niacin. As a cautionary note, 500mg is a high dose to start a flush form of Niacin, it would be intense. I started at 50mg which was a much gentler experience and built up. Research the flush if you want to know the health benefits. If you don`t like the flush but still want the benefits of B3 or to get to a higher dose faster, try a non flushing form.

After much research, I decided to give B3 high-dose a go, in order to help keep me nicotine-free. So I took ONE pill, after food, and my body went into what I can only describe as a toxic shock. The skin on my face, neck, arms, hands and feet turned very red and blotchy, my blood pressure fell so rapidly I could barely stand, my stomach cramped terribly, and I was drenched in cold sweat. Thought of calling out a doctor, but couldnt even make it to my phone in the room next door. The whole ordeal lasted a good couple of hours. Now, I can assure you that Im not some sort of Big Pharma troll, and Im not writing this lightly, because I`ve been taking supplements, flower and homeopathic remedies all my life, and the results are fabulous. I am healthy and strong, not at all sensitive, so I guess all Im trying to say is this: Solar and Bodykind could do with rethinking the contraindications wording for this particular product.

This is a good product at a good price. I take it as an alternative to statins which give me bad joint pain and it does the same job: it reduces my cholesterol level. The one drawback is that it gives me a hot itchy flush about every third night (I take one tablet every night) which can be decidedly uncomfortable. I am willing to put up with this to reap the benefits! NiacinAMIDE or Nicotinamide don`t make you itch but don`t do the job.
